In a statement on social media, a spokesman for Sussex Police said:
“We’ve detained five people following an alleged stabbing in Chapel Road, Worthing. A 13-year-old boy has been taken to hospital for treatment. “This is believed to be an isolated incident, with no threat to the wider community. Please contact us if you saw what happened.”
All five remain in custody for questioning at this time, police said.
Chief Inspector Leadbeatter added: “Whilst the investigation continues, there will be a continued high visibility police presence in and around Worthing town centre over the coming days. “Rest assured, we will continue to work in partnership with other agencies and the local community to reduce violence amongst young people.”
