His parents are Henrietta Wielders and Adrianus Kyvon. There is no more information regarding his parents. Van Duin was born Adrianus Kloot, but because “Kloot” was a Dutch insult, he changed his name to “André van Duin,” and his family changed their surname to “Kyvon.” He seems single child of his parents as there is no information regarding his siblings. Due to his husband’s illness, Van Duin had to put his activities on stop in late 2019. In early 2020, Van Duin’s husband passed away. In 2020, he made his debut appearance on television on one of the final broadcasts of De Wereld Draait Door, the Netherlands’ most popular chat program, which was set to end in March 2020. Van Duin sang a Dutch cover of Charles Aznavour’s La Bohème, which he had written a Dutch translation for. In the Netherlands, this performance went viral.

Van Duin told Algemeen Dagblad in an interview: “It was extreme. In my whole career, I have never had so much response to a television performance. I made people happy. I got all kinds of compliments: how special, what did you sing well, we teared up on the couch. It is called “The Great Dutch Cry-Off”. I didn’t know that many people were watching.”

Van Duin and singer-songwriter Danny Vera worked on “Voor Altijd” in 2021, a song devoted to Van Duin’s late husband.  He played the song live on Mathijs gaat door on February 20. “Voor Altijd” peaked at #23 on the Dutch Singles Chart and #20 on the Dutch Top 40.
