Senior career
Nichols was named to the national team in March and will compete in the City of Jesolo Trophy and the Germany-Romania-USA Friendly. She placed first with the team and sixth in the all-around at the City of Jesolo Trophy, and she won a silver medal on the floor exercise. Nichols finished first with the team and third in the all-around in her second City of Jesolo Trophy. She finished third in the all-around in the Tokyo World Cup. Nichols placed first with the team and sixth overall at the City of Jesolo Trophy.
She competed in the U.S. Classic on July 25, finishing third in the all-around behind Biles, the two-time reigning world all-around champion, and Gabby Douglas, the 2012 Olympic all-around champion. Nichols competed in the preliminary round of the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships on vault, balancing beam, and floor exercise. She competed in all four events during the team final, giving an all-around score of 59.232 to the US women’s gold medal. Nichols received a full athletic scholarship to join the Oklahoma Sooners women’s gymnastics team in 2015. Nichols made her collegiate debut versus Alabama in the Sooners’ home opener. She won the uneven bars title with a near-perfect score of 9.975, as well as the floor exercise and all-around titles. The gorgeous lady made the competitive lineup on all four events as a freshman majoring in health and exercise science in 2016–2017, scoring at least one perfect ten on each. She was the NCAA leader in all four events and the all-around as of Week 5.
Nichols began the season in the Collegiate Challenge, where she competed in the all-around and helped Oklahoma win the competition. Individually, she came in second behind Ross in the all-around, but she had the highest uneven bars score of the competition. Despite being “completely devastated” by the season’s premature end, Nichols and senior classmates Jade Degouveia and Bre Showers released a statement on March 13, 2020, calling their four years at Oklahoma “a dream come true” and stating that they are “content in knowing we poured our hearts and souls into this season and sport.”
