Brooks Laich made his debut appearance in junior hockey when he signed up to play for the Moose Jaw Warriors in the Western Hockey League following the 2001 season. Brook has appeared in over 70 games for the Warriors, all of which he has excelled in. Because of his outstanding achievement as a Moose Jam student, he was named the Club’s Scholastic Player of the Year for the season. This drew the attention of major league organizations, and he was finally selected by the Ottawa Senators in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Following that, he joined the Thunderbirds, with whom he spent the rest of his junior hockey career.

Laich made his professional hockey debut in February 2003, when he signed a contract with the American Hockey League’s ‘Birmingham Senators.’ Brooks was loaned to the ‘Washington Capitals’ for the season. Brooks made his debut with the Canadian team at the 2003 World Junior Championships, where he earned a silver medal against Sweden. 

Laich was unsigned as a free agent by the Maple Leafs. Later, he accepted a tryout deal with the Los Angeles Kings and attended their training camp. Despite returning from an early injury and impressing in the preseason, Laich was released prior to the 2017–18 season. With the Kings dealing with injuries in the early stages of the season, he returned to the fold on October 19, 2017, signing a one-year, $650,000 deal. 

The Kings placed Laich on waivers on November 25, and he was later assigned to their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign. Before reporting to the Reign, Laich was placed on unconditional waivers, opting for a mutual termination of his contract on November 27, 2017, after recording one assist in 12 games with the Kings.
