A wrestling promotion business said Saturday, Hana Kimura, a 22-year-old female professional wrestler who was among the cast of the latest installment of the internationally popular Japanese reality show series “Terrace House,” died.
Stardom said nothing about the cause of Kimura’s death, but had posted a picture of herself and a cat with the message “I love you, please live a long and happy life. I ‘m sorry,” on Instagram, shortly before her death was reported in a hospital in the early hours of the day, sources close to the matter said.
The native of Yokohama was among the six cast members of “Terrace House Tokyo 2019-2020” which Fuji Television broadcasts. This has also gained a cult following abroad, as it is distributed with English subtitles through the U.S. video streaming service Netflix.
“The news of her sudden death leaves us speechless,” the Japanese broadcaster said in a statement. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family.”
Instead of the spread of coronavirus, Fuji TV had already stopped shooting on the series and the cast members have been mostly at home since, it added.

Hana Kimura died on May 23, 2020, she was 22 years old and her cause of death was not revealed. Kimura posted self-harm pictures of herself earlier in the day, and spoke about her extreme depression.

The note expressed respect for the people around her, the sources said.

One time at a live event in Tokyo on August 21, 2005, Kimura won the DDT Ironman Heavy Metal Weight Championship, but lost the championship to her mother Kyoko. Kimura received training at the University of Professional Wrestling, Wrestle-1.
Upon passing an audition that took place in December 2015, Hana was admitted into the Wrestle-1 dojo. As a round girl of the “Super Great Cuties” she was revealed as HANA the same month. She made her professional debut wrestling losing to her classmate Reika Saiki on 30 March 2016. She has spent the majority of the year competing at various promotions including WAVE, Sendai Women.
Kimura wrestled in a match against her mum on August 7, 2016. Kimura won her first title, the JWP Junior Championship, in a tournament final on September 18, 2016, by beating Yako Fujigasaki. She also started appearing in Stardom during this time. Hanna joined up with her mum and Kagetsu to win the Stardom Championship Artist on October 2, 2016. The squad vacated the titles when Kimura was injured on 3 January 2017. Kimura also lost her JWP Junior Championship to Yako Fujigasaki on December 28, 2016, one week prior. Finally she became a member of the heel stable for Stardom, Oedo Tai. Her mum retired on January 22, 2017.
Hana Kimura split between Wrestle-1, Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling and Stardom in 2017 while becoming a full-time Wrestle-1 participant.
