While in college she appeared on several productions including “Seven Guitars,” “For Colored Girls” and “Chicago.” After graduating she took a job in D.C. helping soldiers and their families all while producing her own play. She later landed her first agent and knew she wanted to pursue acting and the performing arts as a career full-time, so she left her job and moved to Los Angeles.
A month after moving to LA she was discovered working the booth of a pop-up shop event and catapulted her acting journey. In 2016 she was cast in the Lifetime Movie KILLER COACH and later “Chef Julian”. She later had a recurring role on the CBS “MacGyver” reboot. In 2018 she became a series regular on the CBS show “God Friended Me.”

Javicia Leslie Batwoman
Javicia is set to play the role of Ryan Wilder on Batwoman season 2 after Ruby Rose exit as Kate Kane. Javicia will be the first Black actress to portray the superhero in a live-action television show or film production.
Her character is described as “likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed” as well as “nothing like Kate Kane.”
“With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today Ryan lives in her van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical all-American hero.”
After the announcement, Javicia released a statement which read; “I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community.”
