Jung Joon-young is a former singer-songwriter, radio DJ, host, actor, and television personality from South Korea. Joon received recognition for the first time in Mnet’s reality TV talent show, Superstar K4 (2012), where he finished third. He became the youngest member of KBS ‘ 2 Days & 1 Night Season 3 variety show in 2013. He hosted his own radio program called Simsimtapa (2014) by MBC FM’s Jung Joon-young and made his big screen debut in Love Forecast (2015). On March 11, 2019, Jung reported to have secretly filmed his own sexual encounters with at least 10 women in 2015 and 2016, and then posted the videos in chat groups with friends, including fellow Korean celebrity Seungri. The charges emerged of falsely supplying sex facilities during a police investigation into Seungri and resulted in Jung being prosecuted as well.

Jung resigned from the entertainment industry on March 12, 2019, admitting to crimes that he had “filmed and exchanged people in a chatroom without their permission.” He apologized to the many women he had filmed, as well as to his fans, and also promised to cooperate with the police. There are ongoing investigations into his case in the Burning Sun scandal involving Seungri, Choi Jong-hoon, Yong Jun-hyung, and Lee Jong-hyun celebrities. On March 21, 2019, Jung was arrested on charges of unlawfully posting sexually explicit women’s videos taken on eleven occasions through a social media chatroom without their knowledge or consent.

A woman came to SBS funE on April 19, 2019, alleging that in March 2016, five men including Jung had raped her and posted an audio file and photographs of the incident in a group chat. On May 10, 2019, Jung pleaded guilty to all 11 cases of illegal recording and posting in a chatroom the videos of himself having sex with women, and he is seeking legal damages with the victims. Also under investigation are Jung and Choi Jong-hoon for reportedly engaging in a woman’s gang rape in 2016. Jung was sentenced to six years in prison on 29 November 2019.

Born on February 21, 1989, Jung has received the
“New Male Solo Artist” award at the 3rd Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards since
his official debut with the release of the 1st Mini Album in October 2013. He
then released the self-produced 2nd mini album, Teenager, on June 26, 2014,
which included six self-composed songs. Jung had his 2013 Taiwan fan meeting
and followed in July 2014 with his first Taipei overseas showcase. At the
