At the age of 16 he had started working at a local radio station. After being graduated from high school, he attended Southeast Missouri State University for one year and then he dropped out In february 1971. After getting dropped out of college, 20 year old Limbaugh accepted an offer to DJ at WIXZ. He left home in 1971 to pursue a career in radio, but, after being fired from stations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Kansas City, Missouri, he quit radio in 1978 to work in ticket sales for the Kansas City Royals professional baseball team.
Limbaugh began an afternoon show at the top 40 station KUDL in Kansa city Missouri in 1975. In 1979, he had accepted a part-time role in group sales for the Kansas City Royals baseball team which developed into a full-time position as director of group sales and special events. On November 1983, Limbaugh again returned to radio at KMBZ (AM) in Kansas City for a year. Limbaugh’s has got his greatest success which came in August 1988, when The Rush Limbaugh Show (nationally syndicated from New York City by the ABC Radio Network) premiered.
