Mary Mara drowns in New York river: Asphyxiation caused Mary to drown in the river

Marie died on June 26, 2022, and fans are shocked and saddened by the news. On the morning of June 26, the actress’s body was discovered in the St. Lawrence River in Cape Vincent, New York, and an investigation was immediately launched. At about 8:10 a.m. Sunday, state troopers and ambulance workers went to an emergency call regarding a probable drowning off Old Farm Road, according to police. Mara’s body was discovered in the river. According to the autopsy report from the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office, Mary Mara died of asphyxiation due to drowning.

(Asphyxiation also known as asphyxia or suffocating, occurs when the body does not receive enough oxygen. It can result in loss of consciousness, brain injury, or death if not treated immediately).

Craig Dorfman, Mara’s manager, confirmed her death.

“Mary was one of the finest actresses I ever met,” Dorfman wrote in a statement to Variety. “I still remember seeing her onstage in 1992 in ‘Mad Forest’ off Broadway. She was electric, funny and a true individual. Everyone loved her. She will be missed.”

“The preliminary investigation suggests the victim drowned while swimming,” New York State Police said in a release. “The victim’s body showed no signs of foul play and was transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office pending an autopsy to determine an official cause of death.”

Following her passing,  her family, friends, and fans posted tributes on social media.

On Twitter, actor Jon Lindstrom made a touching tribute to her. It featured a photo of the two of them as well as a touching and sorrowful caption.

 “Crushed to learn of Mary Mara’s untimely passing. We performed together back in 2008 in Malcolm Danare’s ‘In Heat’ at the Lost Playhouse in LA. She was plowing through the aftereffects of Chemo. Brave, brilliant, Uber-talented. Earth will be much less-colorful without her. R.I.P,” it read.

Fans also sent heartfelt messages to the late actress’s family.“my heart goes out to her beloved family. Sweet, extremely talented actress & her mesmerizing personality will always be missed,” one wrote.
