After Kim was confirmed to have won with just 323 votes more than Mr Stephenson, Ms Leadbeater said: “I’m absolutely delighted that the people of Batley and Spen have rejected division and they’ve voted for hope.”

According to official figures, Labour received 13,296 votes while the Conservatives received 12,973. By 323 votes, Kim Leadbeater beat Tory candidate Ryan Stephenson. With 8,264 votes, George Galloway of the British Workers Party came in third.

She called the campaign “a grueling few weeks,” and she thanked the cops for their assistance, saying she needed it more than before.
