LG has launched Chromebase, a 21.5-inch, Chrome OS-based all-in-one desktop computer that aims to do for all-in-ones what Chromebook did for laptops: Provide a simple, cheap, hassle-free alternative.
Truth be told, we’re guessing on the “cheap” part, as LG did not provide a price for the computer. But given that Chromebooks are generally at the low-end of the price spectrum, we’d be surprised if the Chromebase didn’t follow suit.
As for the specs, they include an Intel Celeron CPU, 2GB of memory, 16GB of SSD storage and a 1.3-megapixel webcam. On the connectivity front, Chromebase boasts a HDMI port (it can be used as an extra monitor), three USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port and LAN. The device comes with a keyboard and a mouse.
We’ll take a closer look at the Chromebase at CES which starts Jan. 7; hopefully, LG will be ready to speak about the price and release date at that time as well.
