Amol Rajan was born on July 4, 1983 in Kolkata, India. Rajan attended Graveney school. Later he proceeded with his studies for an English degree at Downing College, Cambridge. While here, he contributed to Varsity and was also an editor of the student newspaper for a term in 2005.

He is the son of P. Varadarajan who is Tamil from Kumbakonam. His mother came from Pune and due to Tamil naming customs, Rajan was born V.Amol. The V stands for his father’s name Varadarajan. After that he raised in Tooting, South West London. This was after his family moved to England when he was three years old. He is 38 years old. No information regarding his siblings has been update.

How did Amol Rajan start his professional career?

He started his career working as the newspaper editor for his school newspaper in 2005. Amol Rajan is hosting his own series, produced by the BBC. In November 2016, Amos appointed to be the BBC’s first media Editor, and he assume his new elected post on 12 December. Moreover, Rajan has hosted The Big Debate on the BBC Asian Network. From May, he presented The media show on BBC Radio 4 in succession to Steve Hewlett.
